500 Days-In The Wild
Canadian Geographic|May/June 2018

I’M CURRENTLY trying to hike, paddle, mountain bike and snowshoe The Great Trail while filming a documentary and writing a book (both to be titled 500 Days in the Wild) about my adventures.

500 Days-In The Wild

The Great Trail is 24,400 kilometres long and connects three oceans and 15,000 communities across Canada. I wanted to follow the sun, so I began my journey in St. John’s on July 1, 2015. My father is a Newfoundlander and I grew up with the old Irish expression, “May the wind always be at your back.” Travelling east to west, I have had a headwind the entire way.
