Getting out into the garden and interacting with wildlife can have plenty of benefits for children

Educational professionals are becoming increasingly aware of the impact nature can have on children’s learning and development. A 2019 study authored by Swansea University researchers found a range of perceived advantages to bringing regular outdoor learning into the school curriculum, with students and teachers seeing improvements in pupils’ engagement with learning and concentration (plus positive health and wellbeing effects). ‘Outdoor learning provides the opportunity to engage children with the natural environment,’ noted Emily Marchant, one of the study’s authors.
