Justin stands up for some of the less well-known superheroes
I’m in the midst of writing my new stand up show which I will be taking to Edinburgh for the Fringe and then on tour (always nice to start a column with a plug all about me – tickets on sale now). My show this year is called Northern Joker, primarily because: a) I’m northern and b) I’m a joker.
It’s really about coming to terms with the fact that I’m more or less pointless these days. My kids are growing up fast; they don’t need me anymore it seems. Well, I say that – what they need is a cash dispenser and a lift home from a party. To be honest, they don’t want cash much these days; it’s more transfers from my account to theirs via my mobile app. I’m less of a father more the Uber of my own house. On top of this, the dog is getting a little slower and doesn’t need as many walks, and the current potential Mrs Moorhouse has become a newly qualified teacher so for the past eight months I’ve only seen her back hunched over her desk until midnight most nights marking work and prepping for the next day. Yeah, woe is me.
