The Sri Yaganti Uma Maheswara temple (also called as Yaganti temple) is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in Kurnool district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. This ancient temple is at a distance of about 100 kms from the city of Kurnool. The devotees travel to this holy place from all over India to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. A very unique feature that is found only here is that, the idol of Lord Shiva in this temple is in the form of a Statue and not in Linga form.
The history of the Yaganti temple dates back to the 5th & 6th centuries A.D with contributions from the Kings of the Pallava Dynasty, Chola Dynasty and Chalukya Dynasty. The most notable contribution was from the Kings of the Vijayanagara Empire, during the 15th century A.D. King Harihara Bukka Rayalu, the first King of the Sangama dynasty of the Vijayanagara Empire completed the construction of several structures in and around the temple.
