NEW DRAMA
The Nest Sunday, BBC1 HD, 9pm
It’s a chilly December morning at Glasgow Central station, where TV&Satellite Week has been invited to watch Martin Compston and Sophie Rundle film their new BBC1 psychological thriller The Nest.
As the pair, cocooned in padded winter jackets, take a break to talk, Compston admits it has been an emotionally demanding experience. ‘It’s been one of the toughest roles I’ve ever had,’ he says. ‘But tough in a good way.’
The five-part drama is written by BAFTA-winning Nicole Taylor, whose credits include Three Girls, The C Word and movie Wild Rose.
Compston and Rundle play Dan and Emily Docherty, a wealthy couple who enter into a destructive pact with a teenage girl called Kaya (Mirren Mack) when she offers to become a surrogate for them.
