The new American Horror Story pays tribute to famous slasher movies of the 1980s
Classic Horror

Stranger Things has already explored the creepier side of the 1980s and now FOX’s American Horror Story is adding its own dark twist to the decade of leg warmers, big hair and power ballads.

While previous series have been set around a haunted house, a sinister asylum, a chilling carnival and a spooky hotel, the ninth run of the Emmy- and Golden Globe winning drama anthology is subtitled 1984 and will pay homage to iconic slasher horror films from the 1970s and 1980s, including Halloween, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?

While AHS’s creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are keeping typically tight-lipped about what to expect in the new series, trailers suggest that the 10-part run centres around a group of party-loving youngsters at Camp Redwood, a remote Summer camp nestled among lakes and woods.
