1 Always have teammates

‘I now only go on a TV quiz when it’s multiple choice or where you have a teammate to help you out. I’d never go on something like Celebrity Mastermind where you have to show how much you know about something; it’s too much pressure. When I did the celebrity version of The Weakest Link, I was beaten by Basil Brush; I don’t think I’ll ever live that down!’

2 Look down the lens

‘As a film actor you’re taught never do that. But when I started working with Ricky Gervais I realised I could, and it’s very liberating. You’ll see me do it a lot on Tenable because a look can say more than two lines of dialogue.’

3 Never present breakfast telly
