At the start of the latest series of BBC1 crime drama Line of Duty, it seemed that solicitor Nick Huntley was simply the supportive husband of dodgy DCI Roz Huntley (Thandie Newton).

But as he was being played by Inspector George Gently and The A Word star Lee Ingleby, TV Times suspected there might be more to him than met the eye. We were proved right, as he now appears to be responsible for a brutal attack on AC-12 officer Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), his marriage to Roz is troubled and he may even be the serial killer known as ‘Balaclava Man’.

As this week’s penultimate episode sees the Huntleys face more problems, we took Lee, 41, in for questioning to learn more…

Did you always know that Nick was more complex than he first seemed and might even be a killer?

Yes, the writer, Jed Mercurio, sat me down for a chat at the start and told me and I was really excited. Viewers have been contacting me on Twitter saying, ‘How come you are only in one scene?’ and offering up theories but I just keep quiet so that I don’t land in trouble!
