How I Became A Kennedy

Natalie Portman is well known as being an intensely private person. Having been in the public eye since playing a hitman’s protegé in Leon at 13, she’s adept at avoiding talk of her personal life.

Yet when we meet she’s friendly and forthcoming, perhaps because it’s awards season, which, she says, is her favourite time of the year.

But despite receiving BAFTA and Oscar nominations for her role in Jackie this year, what makes award shows fun for Natalie, 35, is the chance to meet fellow actors.

‘When we go to the events it’s the one time we get to sit and talk,’ she says. ‘Everyone is so lovely and amazing and it’s people you admire.’
