BAFTA FILM AWARDS

NEW SUNDAY / BBC1 / 7PM / AWARDS

Grab the popcorn and settle back for an evening of movie magic as the 75th BAFTA Film Awards get underway at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

After the 2021 event was held virtually due to the pandemic, this year, the ceremony will be a star-spangled in-person affair once more, presented by Hollywood favourite Rebel Wilson.

‘I’m very honoured to be hosting the awards, it’s going to be so much fun!’ says Rebel, 42, star of hit films including Bridesmaids and the Pitch Perfect franchise.

‘I’ll just be there to hang out with Dame Judi Dench, and together we’ll try and bond with Daniel Craig. Everybody’s going to love it!’

Meanwhile, comedian Tom Allen and Strictly 2021 star AJ Odudu will be busy on the red carpet chatting to the nominees and other attendees as they arrive, and their interviews will be live-streamed on the BAFTA social-media channels via the @BAFTA handle.

Film buff Tom, 38, who is always a pleasure to interview, phoned TV Times to tell us more…

Are you looking forward to the big night?

Yes, having an in-person ceremony again feels special. After the last couple of years, we want to make it a celebration of film-making with showbiz glamour and razzle-dazzle.

Everybody’s so keen to celebrate everything that’s been achieved in film over the last year, and the great pool of talent in this country and in the industry generally. It’s exciting!

Do you think Rebel will be an entertaining host?

Rebel’s going to be brilliant. She’s so funny, I love her.
