The success of The Great British Bake Off has inspired all manner of similar creative contests, from The Great Pottery Throw Down to The Great British Sewing Bee and even The Big Allotment Challenge.

Now, it’s the turn of garden sculpture in the spotlight as Netflix gets a slice of the action with its brand-new competition The Big Flower Fight.

Presented by comedians Vic Reeves (AKA actor Jim Moir) and Natasia Demetriou (star of C4’s Stath Lets Flats), the eight-part series sees 10 teams of two competing to create large flower installations in a series of challenges.

In each episode, one team is consigned to the compost heap, while the overall winners get the chance to design a sculpture for London’s Royal Botanic Gardens.

To unearth more information, TV Times was invited to a manor house in Kent, the venue for the competition, to meet the contestants, hosts and the resident judge, ‘florist to the stars’ Kristen Griffith-VanderYacht.

On arrival, we spot three towering fairy-tale-themed garden sculptures have been made by six contestants, one of whom is busily working away dressed in a pink ruff, gold jacket and sparkly trousers!
