NEW REAL LIFE

The Channel: The World’s Busiest Waterway

WEDNESDAY / CHANNEL 4 / 9.00PM

The English Channel is the busiest shipping lane in the world, with a staggering 500 vessels per day travelling across or along the thin strip of water between the United Kingdom and France every day.

In C4’s new fourparter, we follow coastguard officials, ferry captains, customs workers and the countless other people who keep the sea traffic flowing, as film crews step aboard small fishing boats, enormous cargo ships and everything in between.

Yet it isn’t just sea vessels that use the Channel and in this week’s first episode we meet Naomi White, a brave mother of three from west London, as she attempts to swim from Dover to Calais to raise money for charity.
