The healing power of nature

AUTUMN WATCH TUESDAY-FRIDAY / BBC2 / 8PM / EPS 5-8 of 8 / NATURE

Back in May, Michaela Strachan was disappointed to sit out Springwatch for the first time in eight years, after coronavirus travel restrictions meant she was unable to leave her Cape Townhome.

Fortunately, Michaela has been able to rejoin the presenting team for BBC2’s Autumnwatch, having self-isolated at a friend’s empty house in the UK for two weeks before the show returned to our screens last Tuesday.

Here, Michaela, 54, tells TV Times what she missed the most about Springwatch, and what she’s looking forward to seeing from her base in Fife’s Tentsmuir Forest this autumn…

How did you find your two weeks of quarantine?

It wasn’t terribly good being on my own for two weeks. I’m not someone that thrives on my own – I did a lot of Zoom calls with friends. But a friend, who wasn’t here, loaned me his very large house, which was brilliant, so I can’t complain!

Were you sad to miss out on this year’s Springwatch?
