SHE’S never been one to hide her light under a bushel, has Katy Perry – so when celebs started shar ing pics of their glammed- up selves at the recent MTV Video Music Awards, she wasn’t about to be upstaged.
Yes, she may be stuck at home with newborn daughter Daisy Dove and a serious case of FOMO. But that didn’t mean she was going to be ignored.
Instead of getting dolled up like so many others, Katy posted a pic of herself in a nursing bra complete with breast pump adapters, a pair of serious granny panties over her mum tum and a look of new-mom exhaustion on her face.
Here I am warts and all, she seemed to be saying – don’t forget about me.
People loved the post, with women around the world praising Katy for not glamourizing life after childbirth.
Frida Mom, the company that sells the postpartum underwear the star was wearing, declared her “the best dressed of the night”.
The picture was a sure sign Katy won’t be airbrushing the reality of early motherhood. She’s often allowed access to the harsher side of her life and has been vocal about her battle with anxiety and depression – and she recently opened up about it again in an interview with talk-show host Tom Power.
“I lost my smile,” she said, describing a particularly bleak spell in 2017. “I’d been riding on the high of a smile for a long time, which was the validation, love, and admiration from the outside world. And then that shifted.”
The change was two-fold, she said, precipitated by a break-up with her nowfiancé and baby-daddy Orlando Bloom,
