TROUBLED TIMES
John’s sixth studio album, Bigger Love, arrived in the midst of global protests against racism. Considering other stars have released protest music or postponed the release of albums, it might seem strange that the 11-time Grammy winner has dropped 16 tracks of feel-good ballads and sultry romantic songs. Don’t worry, he’s aware of it.
“Some of us might wonder if it’s okay to laugh or dance or be romantic,” the 41-year-old tweeted recently. “It’s important for us to continue to show the world the fullness of what it is to be black and human. Through our art, we’re able to do that.”
