FLYING in private jets with Bill Clinton, partying with Donald Trump and hobnobbing with Prince Andrew and other royals – for decades this was Ghislaine Maxwell’s lot in life. But not anymore.
Locked away in jail, awaiting trial on a string of sordid child-sex charges, the British social butterfly is as far away from high society as it’s possible to get.
Her ex-boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein was in an almost identical situation last year, but rather than face the music the 66-year-old convicted sex offender chose to hang himself in his prison cell. Now all eyes are on Ghislaine (58), who was recently arrested in a dramatic FBI raid and charged with helping procure underage partners – some as young as 14 – for the American billionaire financier.
Many of Epstein’s victims are thrilled Ghislaine’s time has finally come. They say she wasn’t only his friend and former lover – she also happily played the role of a madam, recruiting naive teens, flying them around the world to have sex with Epstein and his friends and in several cases, even taking part in the sickening abuse.
Now will Ghislaine cooperate so justice can at last be done? One person who’ll definitely be watching the case with interest is Britain’s Prince Andrew.
A picture doing the rounds recently gave the world an insight into just how close his relationship with the socialite was. It showed Ghislaine and disgraced US actor Kevin Spacey sitting on the coronation thrones of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip during a private tour of Buckingham Palace that Andrew gave them back in 2002.
