SHE was always expected to have an over-the-top wedding. This is Paris Hilton after all – the woman once dubbed Barbie in Balenciaga, the ditsy darling of reality TV, the shamelessly hedonistic heiress to a fortune.
Money is no object and opulence is her middle name. But even by Paris’ standards, her nuptials were quite something: a three-day extravaganza, including four designer wedding dresses, hundreds of snowy white roses, dozens of celebrities and enough wowness to make even the most jaded jaw drop.
Paris waited until she was 40 before walking down the aisle and she was going to make it an occasion to remember.
In her own words, she’d had a long list of “hungry tigers” in her past: models, actors, rock stars, trust-fund babies, club rats and douchebags, as she put it.
Then finally her Prince Charming had come along in the form of venture capitalist Carter Reum and she was going to celebrate big time.
“Today I’m writing this reflection as a new wife,” Paris said in a blog post on her website a day after exchanging vows. “I can’t believe it. I’ve lived a very unique life in the public eye over the last two decades and throughout the years, I was always searching for my partner.
“I was looking for my equal. Someone who wasn’t fascinated with ‘Paris Hilton’ but instead someone who saw the real me and loved me for me.
“I’m so proud of my love story with Carter and even more excited that it’s just beginning. My next chapter as a wife is going to be the best yet.”
