PALOMA LANNA, THE FOUNDER of THIS BARCELONA-BASED CREATIVE PROJECT, CARES more ABOUT YOU THAN GETTING HER GARMENTS into YOUR ROTATION
ANDREA SIM
PALOMA WOOL

Paloma Lanna talks a lot more about the people and the process than the actual clothes, but that’s because Paloma Wool wasn’t founded just to create beautiful garments that would make it into your wardrobe.

Born in San Sebastian and raised in Barcelona, Lanna comes from a fashion family. Her parents are the people behind the clothing brand Nice Things Paloma S., which offer unfussy, easyto-wear silhouettes enlivened with prints — lots and lots of prints — with storefronts across Spain, France and Portugal. So naturally, Paloma Wool’s founder had witnessed the ins-andouts of the clothing business growing up — visiting factories and seeing first-hand the craft and production.

“The most significant thing I learnt was how one should always follow their personal instincts, and work steadily at building what you believe in,” she says. So, quite deliberately, Paloma Wool isn’t a fashion label, and Lanna only launched the project in 2014 when she’d arrived at what would seem, to most, like a counter-intuitive intent for an entity purveying garments — a goal to prioritise people, people on a journey of discovery in artistic pursuits.
