Why Women Wear Skimpy Clothes?

To be attractive, not hot. Unfortunately, both “attractive” and “hot” often require similar appearance when we go by fashion trends; the only difference is how the audience interprets it. When a woman wears sexy clothing, chances are that she is wearing the clothes in order to feel good about herself in a number of ways. For one thing, she wants to fit in with the crowd, so if most of the other women around her are dressing a certain way, she is likely to also. A high collared, long-sleeved, long dress just doesn’t cut it at a nightclub, though it may be appropriate for certain somber occasion like funerals or other church functions. If the other girls are wearing mini-skirts and tight spaghetti-strap tees to the club, and if those are the styles featured in the current fashion magazines, she will probably choose to wear them also. She wants to fit in, and she wants to be admired by the other women at the club.

Reshma Khan, sociologist says, “I believe this question has a sociocultural, historical, biological, and psychological answer—an answer in various aspects of gender studies and fashion trends. Sex appeal is a prominent theme in women’s fashion today, as people are gravitating to increasingly provocative and skimpy clothing. The ratio of fabric to skin has shrunk dramatically as some women now wear revealing clothes which show off their bodies sometimes to the point that they are nearly nude.”

A student of Mithibai says that she was kicked out of a local college gym because of her gym clothes. She was asked to leave the gym at because of her “crop top” — which she had paired with workout leggings. Baffled by the situation, She took to Facebook where she detailed what happened. She added that she didn’t have anything else to change in to and had worn the same outfit on other occasions.

Modern day romance The hook up culture

A hook up culture is one of casual dating which may or may not lead to a long term commitment. Messaging and phoning is rampant and to hook up a few conversations gets you into physical intimacy and contact. Talk over a cup of tea makes for a date. Earlier couples used to merit company through the family social circle or a group of friends. Now with the internet boom, social media and Facebook, dating sites have taken over. The individual has become a commodity. A branded site or just an advertisement for various products does the trick. It has become a point of ridicule that dating comes on a mobile app, and true love has indeed become a shopper’s delight. A hook up syndrome has led to a cultural change; just swiping a card and you get a pretty girl to date.
