According to Jeff Chang of Crystal Light, there is some self-healing magic to the crystal movement.

“Surrounding Brazilian Citrine. I’m an emotional person and it has a strong grounding energy,” shares Jeff Chang, the founder of Crystal Light (@crystal_light_sg). While the statement might seem new-age or perhaps, a little too hippy-dippy, it can be debated that there is some scientific evidence to what a crystal is able to do for one’s mental wellbeing.

Some scientists (a more popular one would be Albert Einstein) have theorised that any form of matter comprises 99.99% empty space but what exactly makes up this empty space? Energy. The person who is reading this, the chair he is sitting on and the medium of which he is reading this story on — they are all vibrating energy.

However, just like everything else that can be quantified as matter, each inanimate object or living creature has its own vibrational frequency. That is perhaps where the concept of “new age” healing comes in. It is believed in certain circles that higher vibrations in humans lead them to radiate kindness, love, and peace whereas lower vibrations incite anxiety, anger, and fear.
