THE RECYCLING PIONEER
With a zero waste target of 2021, Ren Clean Skincare has raised the bar even higher for recycling. Its new Clean Screen Mineral SPF30 has become the first-ever beauty product to be certified by Suez, the leaders in recycling across five continents. As tubes are notoriously hard to recycle, Clean Screen is made from 50 per cent recycled plastic, with a cap created from 100 per cent recycled plastic. Another thing: the entire product only uses one type of plastic.
Why is this important? Put simply, it’s much easier to recycle as there are no layers of different material on either the inside or outside of the tube to pollute the process. The contents are pretty impressive, too: a clean, vegan formula that protects against the ageing effects of blue light as well as UV rays, and a pleasing matte finish derived from rice starch rather than silicones.
THE HIGH - TECH INGREDIENT GROWER
Suncare with skincare benefits is non-negotiable these days. And, in the world of lotions and potions, the rarer these hardworking ingredients are, the more desirable they become. Mádara’s Plant Stem Cell Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF30 Body, Hands And Face ticks all the boxes with mineral filters and cells taken from the stems of the northern dragonhead herb. By being able to withstand harsh weather conditions, these cells play a pivotal role in how the herb visibly repairs and rejuvenates itself. Another bonus: the current cache of data reveals that when applied, this ingredient can help to ward offsun damage and pigmentation, so skin won’t look like a speckled egg come September. Thanks to Mádara’s patentpending stem-cell technology, not a single part of this endangered plant is damaged as scientists grow the cells in bioreactors, ensuring the sustainability of the species and a mega dose of antioxidants for your summer complexion.
