From Paris, With Heart

Now a front row staple and all decked in the seasons best pieces, Heart EvangelistaEscudero was a vision in Paris Couture Week. In a city where she feels she truly belongs, we caught up with her right in her element: In towering heels, her newFrench bag endorsement in tow, and with her sartorial heart on her sleeve.

I remember my last conversation with Heart two years ago at her cozy home in Manila over tea. “If I didn’t get married, I’d probably be living in Paris right now,” she said sipping her tea in a very intricate Hermès cup. If we were only in the 1st Arrondissement at that very moment, I know she’d fit right in— blending in with the Parisians, rather than standing out like she does here in the city. That’s something she’s always fantasized about. “I’ve been to other places, but I’ve never been elsewhere that would best describe who I am,” she says of Paris. And by who she is, she meant dressing up in a sequined dress for morning coffee or a gown just because. She loves Manila, but that’s just one side of her.

Fast forward to today, Heart still got the life she wanted. She lives right here, in Manila and happily married to Senator Chiz Escudero. But at least twice a year she jets off to Paris, decked in head-to-toe designer clothing watching Couture Fashion Week, visiting designer showrooms, and yes you guessed it, sipping coffee in a fully sequined dress. Paris-Heart is different from ManilaHeart. She goes on and on about the magic of the city, and, of course, what’s a stroll in Paris without couture?
