HATCH IT!

Don’tcha almost hate it when you come across a good looking scale model in the pit area with a bunch of exposed switches, fuel fillers and charging jacks bolted, glued or otherwise taped or fastened to the exterior of its beautiful finish? I know, right? Well after very careful investigation I have come to the conclusion that the “reason” may be the result of a simple explanation.

That being that the builder didn’t have the experience to come up with a fashionable way of hiding such obtuberances! Hopefully this little manuscript will shed some light.

The easiest way to preserve the exterior finish of your latest scale model is to simply hide the switches, pushpulls, fuel fillers and charging leads inside a “hole” inside the fuselage. Making the hole is easy, but covering up takes a bit of craftsmanship, and that’s what I’m gonna attempt to show you here, with a selection of photos. The phots are in chronological order, for those unfamiliar with that term, it simply means they are in an order that you might expect from a person, like me. Chrono, meaning cranium, or head, and logical, meaning it makes sense. So, chronological order means the photos are presented one after the other in away that makes sense to you and me. In this case numbers 1-9.
