Learning to breathe correctly is the newest, and possibly easiest, way to wellness
You may have noticed breath workshops advertised on Facebook, along with gong baths and yoga classes. But why do we need them? Let’s face it, nothing should come more naturally than breathing.
Not so, says breath guru Alan Dolan (breathguru.com). ‘Most people are stuck in a hyper-vigilant state due to the stress of modern life. We’re constantly in a low-level version of the “fight or flight” response as a result of rushing around, eating on the go, traffic and deadlines. When we’re in that state, everything in the body constricts, including our breathing.’ This can make us more stressed, which – you’ve guessed it – makes our breathing even worse.
