Shamsheer Vayalil is founder and managing director of VPS Healthcare. He has successfully led the group from a single hospital in 2007 to an end-to-end health care provider with a rapidly expanding global footprint. Today, VPS Healthcare has operations in the U.A.E., Oman, Europe, India, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. With more than 750 physicians and 13,000 employees, the company serves more than 2 million patients a year.

Early Childhood

A doctor by qualification, Shamsheer acquired an MD in radiology from the prestigious Shri Ramachandra Medical College following his MBBS from Kasturba Medical College, India and completed training in radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, he started his career as a radiologist at Sheikh Khalifa Medical Centre in Abu Dhabi. He then moved to the U.A.E. But for the son from a family of several generations of successful businessmen, it was never going to be enough.

Tremendous journey to Success

Dr. Shamsheer is trained as a radiologist. He spent almost 12 years of his life in medical training and Master’s degree in radiology. Dr. Shamsheer realized that as a radiologist, His life would be more or less contained to the basements of hospitals, because all the radiology departments are in the basement. Most don’t see the sunlight. So I decided that my life should be used for the larger good of the public. Being in a business family, you always have the urge to do something by yourself. Says Dr. Shamsheer.
