​Social media has successfully traversed the journey from being experimental to a necessity. Social media helps cater the needs pertaining to both personal and professional lives. But social media has not been equally accepted by all, there are a few sections of the society that have been reluctant in adopting the social media completely. One such section is the medical profession.

Doctors have been quite reluctant in incorporating social media into their lives. The reason for this is, however, a far cry from the general perception of doctors not being technology savvy. Doctors use latest machines every day to treat their patients. They operate effortlessly. The real reason is high inertia that they have towards any major change due to the risk-averse nature of the profession. Any risk has its odds. For doctors, these odds are often a case of life and death of their patients. It's not a piece of code. You get an error if you do a mistake as a coder. Here, the error results in death more often than not.
