The recent demonetisation drive by the government has created a furore as well as generated hopes. Right from the person next door to individual consumers and traders right up to small, mid and large cap companies have all felt the tremors. While analysts and economists are still forming their opinion and the entire issue is being debated at all levels, there are some obvious impacts when it comes to healthcare. Let us examine the impact from all quarters – patients (consumers’) stand point, hospitals’ (providers’) stand point in the short term as well as the long term.

Short term impact can be felt or assessed from a six months' view, while long term is classified as the lasting impact for the next several years in the industry.
