The human body is nothing short of a miracle. It is an extraordinary gift from nature to us. The human heart beats about one lakh times, dispensing more than 6000 liters of blood per day.
As occupants of our body for a lifetime, it pays to understand its marvels fully so as to make the maximum of its capabilities. However, many a time, we seem to be viewing it more as a system that is vulnerable to innumerable ailments rather than a system capable of performing many wonders.
This seems majorly due to the fact that we appear to have entered a "dysevolution" of our own making, as theorized by Harvard biologist Daniel Lieberman. It's time we understood that evolution does not necessarily mean progress. It means change - for better or for worse.
Over the last few decades, the human body has been changing in ways that have nothing to do with the most popular evolutionary theory 'survival of the fittest', thanks to our adopting habits and traits that are, more often than not, detrimental to our, as well as our planet's, wellbeing.
