Decide what drinks to serve well in advance to avoid running dry; assume guests will have two drinks during the first hour of the party, and one drink every hour after that. For a buffet, plan eight savory and two to three sweet canapés per head. Enlist help to take platters of food out – children love to feel involved, so this is a great task for them!
