The raised beds in the shed garden area had to be bound together as part of a cohesive whole
Beyond the oak fence that separates the top and bottom parts of the garden is an area that’s very different from the rest. It may have many of the plants that you’ll find in other parts, but its layout is quite different.
It’s the newest part of the garden since the whole area underwent a revamp about five years ago, when we were forced to move our nursery next door. Having been given a year’s notice, because we’d been so busy we had to leave everything until the last month when we found ourselves in the unenviable position of moving two large tunnels, several hundred concrete slabs and about 90 huge sleepers, not to mention 20,000 plants!
Our only route to do this was through the garden. With a lot of help, especially from our friend Dave, we succeeded in vacating the plot. I don’t think I’ve ever worked so hard, people were enquiring whether or not I was working out, my biceps have never been better! But getting off the plot was only the half of it.
