Homeowner Sharon O’Callaghan-Marais uses an eclectic combination of the décor pieces she adores and striking paint techniques to ‘make her house a home’.
It’s no surprise that Sharon O’Callaghan-Marais found her niche as an interior stylist and paint technique artist.
As a child, she would always return home after spending school holidays with her aunt in Gauteng to find her bedroom completely transformed by her mom. “She always did it, yet it always felt like the most wonderful surprise,” Sharon says. “She would sew a new duvet cover, make new picture frames and paint the furniture. So I have always loved beautiful spaces and now I love transforming interiors myself.”
Sharon previously studied photography and web design but her first love has always been art – a passion she now shares with her husband Henau – and painting.
“Being able to almost instantly transform something with just a lick of paint never seems to lose its magic for me!” she says. “I’m also lucky in that I get to do makeovers as a career, and working with so many people over the years has provided me with plenty of ideas and inspiration for my own style, which is ever-changing.”
