When your clients ask you to design their London pied-à-terre, you know that you will have some fun mixing things up,’ says Emma Pocock, joint founder of Turner Pocock. No ordinary brief, this second home was chosen for its city merits – a one-floor apartment, spacious enough to accommodate living, cooking and entertaining, but desired purely as a boutique home for short London stays. ‘When you don’t have to be practical and reflect the constraints of everyday needs, it represents a fabulous opportunity to create something very special,’ says Emma.
Situated in a sought-after Victorian mansion block close to the river in Chelsea, the three-bedroom home needed no structural work. ‘The architectural bones and cabinetry were already beautiful,’ says Emma. ‘The project was about making decorative additions to bring spaces to life and instilling a sense of understated glamour.’
The stylish results are testimony to Turner Pocock’s ability to listen to client needs while at the same time injecting elements of the unexpected. Colourists at heart, business partners Emma Pocock and Bunny Turner believe in creating spaces that feel smart yet welcoming: tactile luxury with an eclectic air of sophisticated effortlessness. Throughout, a jewel-like palette of bold blues and greens is offset with patterned wallpapers; decadent sofas are covered in striking Christopher Farr cloth alongside bespoke furniture and thoughtful lighting schemes.
