1 MAKE IT SEAMLESS

Using the same striking metallic on both splashback and cabinetry helps achieve design cohesion in this kitchen by DesignSpace London. ‘The metallic surfaces are sheet aluminium with a patinated bronze dust finish,’ says managing director Richard Atkins. ‘As well as providing warmth and interest, it comes in large sheets, which avoids unsightly joints.’ Modulnova Blade kitchen, from £25,000, DesignSpace London. Custom fabricated metallic surfaces can be welded or soldered at the corners to eliminate bacteria-attracting joints. In this kitchen, deVOL used aged copper on the splashback, worktop and integrated sink for a seamless installation. ‘Copper has amazing antibacterial properties, too, which makes it hygienic.
