Founded by Ar. Akshat Bhatt, Delhi-based multi-disciplinary design firm Architecture Discipline believes in prioritizing every aspect of work down to the finest detail. Bhatt says, “We're proud of even the very small things we do. It could be a piece of jewellery or cutlery. I'm proud of different projects for diverse reasons. Architecture is not a competition but the business of architecture certainly is. Being a successful architect takes many years of hard work. I believe being an architect is more than just being a genius in abstract designs.”
The design philosophy of the firm highlights the emergence of an architectural expression that is contemporary, yet rooted in a critical understanding of regionalism. Bhatt has been actively engaged with the academic community of New Delhi, teaching at three architecture schools over the last 16 years. He is also a member of the Council of Architecture (India) and the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (India).Bhatt’s work has also garnered him acclaim from the Indian Government for his design of the India Pavilion at Hannover Messe, Germany.
Fascinated by architecture from the age of 13, Bhatt was initially enthralled by everything related to the field, from tools and tackle to multi-colored stationery. After he came across a rooftop extension in a college library by design studio COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, Bhatt realized that architecture could be bold, edgy and progressive.
