Stacy’s life has been filled with creativity starting at the tender age of 6 when she was gifted a Singer Featherweight sewing machine. She began teaching quilting to others in elementary school and then moved on to fabric dyeing. By the age of 21 she had a successful business. She makes practical quilts and kits them so others can enjoy her designs and her unique fabrics. She has no desire to be an award-winning quilter. Her interests are in sharing and teaching her skills and knowledge.

Stacy started dyeing cloth around 1986 and, the following year, vended her first booth at the Houston Quilt Festival. She got her first major international account during that first market through a gentleman from Japan. This was the start of her long and successful career in custom-dyed fabrics.

Stacy is a very busy lady having taken more than 40 trips to Japan and other faraway places to exhibit her wares, along with quilt markets and shows here in the states, a busy teaching schedule, patterns, kits and her custom-fabric business.

Design Influences

Hawaiian appliqué has had a huge influence on Stacy’s designing and quilting style. She has created more than 130 fold-and-cut designs, many in non-Hawaiian themes such as cats, dogs and holiday motifs. In addition, she has developed a style of fabric that’s perfect for these patterns called Hand-Dyed Hula Hoop.
