Shopping for mattresses and bedding can be surprisingly complicated. Not only do you have to consider your budget, but also your own sleeping habits and personal preferences. If you share your bed with a partner, things get even more complex, as you may need to compromise. Whether you’re stuck choosing the right material for your mattress or you’re looking for the perfect pillow and sheets combo, we’re here to help.
Mattress matters
Instead of booking pricey staycations every time your back starts to ache, upgrade your own mattress for a better night’s sleep. Here’s a guide to some of our favourite mattress types
Latex mattress
The biggest advantage of latex mattresses is the material’s natural resistance to dust mites, mould and mildew, as well as a variety of other allergens. Latex also naturally adapts to body contours, no matter which position you sleep in, allowing you to sink into a deep sleep while still getting healthy back support. Another reason for the popularity of latex mattresses is their breathability, making them ideal for Singapore’s humid climate.
Memory foam mattress
In some ways similar to traditional polyurethane foam, memory foam has added compounds that make it stronger and more elastic. This makes memory foam mattresses particularly comfortable and adaptable, moulding to your body as you sleep without losing elasticity over time and helping to relieve pressure points if you suffer from physical aches at night.
