Landline? What landline?

SOCIAL media has changed the way the world communicates. It struck me recently that I now speak regularly to only a handful of friends on the phone. In fact, when the phone rings at home, we all look at each other and guess whether it’s my mum, my mother in law or the window cleaner. Aside of the odd international scamming call, they are the only three people who call the landline.

On BBC Surrey, many of our listeners now use Twitter and Facebook to tell us what is going on in their lives and as their primary way of getting in contact. Every day we are sent pictures from across Surrey, video of potential news stories and, of course, as many comments as you can think of.
