TOP 10 flowers for seeds

1 VERBENA BONARIENSIS

This tall, light and airy plant effortlessly makes any planting scheme more three-dimensional and it doesn't need staking. Its tiny purple flowers are loved by bees and butterflies. Sow seeds indoors in spring and plant out May and June. H2m

2 TANACETUM PARTHENIUM

Commonly known as feverfew, this low-growing sun-loving plant is great at the front of borders. Its pretty, daisy-like flowers will attract bees, while the aromatic foliage repels unwanted pests such as wasps. Sow the seeds direct to the soil in late summer or spring. H40cm

3 GLADIOLUS BYZANTINUS

A graceful variety of wildflower gladioli with spires of magenta-pink flowers in May. Plant corms in autumn 10cm deep onto a bed of horticulture grit or sharp sand to aid drainage. Try combining it with ornamental grasses and Allium ‘Purple Sensation’. H60cm

4ANGELICA ARCHANGELICA

Grow this magnificent giant towards the back of a border. Likes moist, fertile soil in partial shade. Sow direct in May and June or in a seed tray outside to be planted out from August to September. It’s biennial so will flower in its second year. H2m
