Huawei’s meteoric growth in the region is no accident
UNLESS YOU HAVE SPENT SOME TIME researching the global telecommunications industry, the speed at which Huawei has penetrated the smartphone market might puzzle you. The brand founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei built itself up from the ground, focusing on telecommunications infrastructure across the world. The introduction of consumer technology into its business was a natural progression when it found it could provide to those very nations in which it had set up infrastructure.
How well it has done, however, is more than commendable. AUGUST MAN recently sat down with Cheng Jiang Fei, the managing director of Huawei’s Singapore office, to talk about the culture that drives the world’s second-largest smartphone manufacturer.
