Architect behind the Bohème timepieces, Zaim Kamal, delves into the genesis of the gorgeous and expansive collection

Not long after Zaim Kamal took over Montblanc’s creative department in 2013, he was tasked with conceiving an entirely new watch collection for women. It was no small task, considering the company’s luxury accoutrements, spanning iconic writing instruments, leather goods to timepieces were skewed towards men.

Undeterred and up for the challenge, Kamal now sanguinely recalls it as an “interesting” project. In four years, the Bohème collection has grown to become a mainstay in Montblanc’s line-up. Offering a comprehensive spread, the collection features three-hand quartz and automatic models, along with top-of-the-line tourbillon and perpetual calendar complications, often with exquisite artisanal and gem-set executions.
