IN this season’s Celtic View we will be finding out the routines of the players on the day of the game – pre and post-match. Next up is CRAIG GORDON
PRE-MATCH
Any superstitions?
My biggest superstition is not telling anyone my superstitions! So you won’t get anything more than that out of me. However, I normally eat the same sort of thing before each game. I start with a pasta, scrambled egg and chicken. After that, I will have a bowl of cereal. The night before a game, I normally just have the TV on but there’s nothing special I will watch. I like to get an early night and some sleep to get ready for the game, especially for the early kick-offs as it’s quite quick in the morning to get into the routine of a matchday. Even though it’s in the morning, I still eat the same thing and, while it’s not always easy to eat pasta at eight or nine in the morning, it’s good for your body and I will eat that if possible. The preparation we get is fantastic. There is no stone left unturned and the staff are brilliant at getting us prepared for games, not just on the training pitch but what we eat here and at the hotels. It’s a big effort from all the staff and probably goes unnoticed elsewhere, but the players appreciate how much they put in to make sure we are going out in the best possible way to win games.
