Young Connor McBride made the move from Falkirk to Celtic before the transfer window slammed shut
CONNOR McBride was thrilled to sign for his boyhood heroes recently and become the latest prodigal son to return to Paradise.
The 16-year-old was part of Celtic’s Junior Academy before deciding to continue his football education with hometown club, Falkirk.
But, despite the interest of other clubs, he jumped at the chance to become a Bhoy again just 24 hours before the transfer window slammed shut.
And it was a proud moment for his Hoops-supporting family when the forward put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half year contract at Celtic Park.
“Everyone in my family supports Celtic, and my Mum and Dad, along with my uncle and Gran came through to watch me sign, so it was a proud moment for the family,” he told the View in an exclusive interview. “They were all delighted and just happy that I am here.
“It was a great feeling. I have supported the club all my life so it’s an honour to be here and put the strip on. I always wanted to play for Celtic. It’s the team I support so it wasn’t a hard decision to come here. There were a few other clubs interested but this was the one I wanted.
“I found out about the week before and the deal didn’t get done until the day before the deadline but I was just happy to get it completed. I am delighted to be here.
“I was in the Junior Academy at Celtic and things didn’t work out for me in terms of the travelling so I decided to go to a club nearer to home in Falkirk, where I played all my youth football and they did really well for me,” continued the new Bhoy.
