STUART Armstrong is the latest player to become a century Bhoy following his 100th appearance for the club earlier this month, and it was double delight for the midfielder as he captained the Hoops to a 4-1 victory over St Johnstone to mark the occasion.

The 25-year-old has had a tremendous second full season in Paradise and has amassed 45 appearances under Brendan Rodgers while scoring an impressive 15 goals to date this term.

Armstrong arrived at Celtic at the start of 2015, and already has a more than impressive medal haul with three Premiership title medals and well as a League Cup gong and he has helped secure a place in the Scottish Cup final. A victory at Hampden over Aberdeen on, May 27, would ensure that the midfielder’s name is cemented in the club’s history books as a treble winner.

The midfielder is surprised, not to mention incredibly honoured, at hitting the century landmark for the Hoops, especially during such a fantastic season.

Speaking exclusively to the Celtic View, He said: “I actually didn’t realise it was my 100th appearance but it’s nice to find out. It’s a great achievement to play 100 times for a club like Celtic and I hope I go on to make many more appearances.

“It’s something that I’ll look back on as a terrific milestone and one that I can be very proud of, plus to be captain on the day was very nice too. It was a nice compliment from the manager, to give me the captaincy, and it showed that he had that belief in me in the absence of Broony and Mika.

“The first time I was made captain a few months ago I probably put more thought into it, but captaining the St Johnstone game felt like more of an honour and privilege. I pretty much just carried on my game as normal.
