On To The Next Stage

Kerry Montgomery has been under a different sort of limelight recently and it’s all part of playing for Celtic.

SHE’S much more used to strutting her stuff on the pitch but Celtic Women’s midfielder, Kerry Montgomery has been treading the boards on stage recently with an appearance at the Celtic Player of the Year awards closely followed by taking part in last week’s Live the Legend kit launch. 

The midfielder lifted the Women’s Player of the Year award at the recent ceremony to cap off a great season for her and she then teamed up with fellow women’s team member, Heather Richards with a host of Celtic’s top first-team players and none other than John Clark, Bobby Lennox and Bertie Auld from the Lisbon Lions on the stage in front of Paradise last Thursday. 

Back on the pitch, even though the SWPL campaign is just a few weeks old, the Celtic Women’s side already have a League Cup final to look forward to with a 2-1 win over Spartans two weeks ago taking them through to the final against Hibernian. It’s been a busy time for Montgomery and her team-mates but she took some time out of her busy schedule to sit down with the Celtic View.

Are looking forward to playing Hibernian in League Cup final? 

Absolutely as Hibs are a team we have yet to beat and it’s going to be a massive challenge for us, but that’s the game that everybody wants to play in so we are really looking forward to it. Of course, it’s good to play in a final no matter who we are playing. I think it’s been seven or eight seasons since our first team has actually made it to a final, so obviously we have done well in getting there. It’s strange not seeing Glasgow City in the final as they are normally there.
