Throughout this season, the Celtic View will be getting to know some of the players coming through the Celtic Academy, and who are determined to try and progress all the way to the first-team
ROSS McLaughlin has been at Celtic for over half his life already, but his biggest challenge is now in front of him as the teenage midfielder looks to make the most of the opportunity he has worked so hard to get.
McLaughlin’s time in the Reserve team has been limited due to two long-term injuries, but the 19-year-old is hopefully now on the brink of making his return and is desperate to do what he loves most – play football again.
“I injured two of my cruciate ligaments and that has kept me from playing for the best part of two years,” he explained.
“I’m back training now so I just have to keep at it and hopefully in a couple of weeks I’ll be able to play games again. I cannot wait. It’s felt like ages that I’ve been out so I really can’t wait to play football again.”
On the Pitch...
WHERE DO YOU HAIL FROM?
I was born in Govan and I’ve lived there all my life. I still stay there with my mum and dad.
WHAT POSITION DO YOU PLAY?
I play centre midfield. I’m a sitting midfielder but I also like to play a number 10 role behind the striker. I’ve always played in the middle of the park, either as a number 8 or number 10.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PART OF THE ACADEMY FOR?
