The Last Word With Voe Sullivan
Celtic View|Vol 52 Issue 40

WELL, weekends don’t go much better than that. Just days after the under-17s successfully defended the Glasgow Cup against Rangers, the big Bhoys went into the Scottish Cup semi-final against their Ibrox counterparts and completely outclassed the opposition in all departments.

The Last Word With Voe Sullivan

Brendan Rodgers’ Celts are now on the brink of a fabulous treble with Aberdeen standing between the Hoops and a domestic whitewash in a glorious first season for the Irishman.

Going into the weekend, there was always the chance that at least one Celt would be playing at the Hampden showdown on May 27, no matter which teams made it to the final.

With Ryan Christie on loan at Pittodrie and Efe Ambrose on a loan deal at Hibernian, there was every chance one of them would be appearing in the final – of course, only if parent club Celtic didn’t make it to the showpiece game and we all know which scenario we were hoping for.

Now there will be at least 11, and probably more, Celts strutting the Hampden turf on May 27 thanks to their more than comprehensive 2-0 defeat of Rangers in the second semi-final on Sunday following Aberdeen’s 3-1 defeat of Hibs just 24 hours earlier.

And so it goes that, despite scoring a crucial goal in the Dons 3-2 win, Ryan Christie is now precluded from playing in the final with his temporary team-mates.

Still, though, I’d much prefer to see a whole team of Celts in the final rather than just one.
