In this issue, Element invited Singapore born and internationally acclaimed director Boo Junfeng to the Hall of Fame.
Junfeng has always been an outstanding individual. He graduated from The Puttnam School of Film, LASALLE College of the Arts in 2009, where he was accorded the McNally Award for Excellence in the Arts -a valedictorian honour of the college. As a director, he has produced many notable works. His film Sandcastle (2010) was the first Singaporean film to be invited to the Cannes Film Festival. This year, he will be returning to the festival to compete under the Un Certain Regard section with his film Apprentice. Junfeng also supports and contributes to the LGBT community. He produced a short film in 2009, Tanjong Rhu, based on an incident where 12 men were arrested for gay cruising. He is also involved with Pink Dot Singapore, an annual, non-profit, free-for-all event in support of the LGBT community in Singapore.
WHAT ARE YOU BUSY WITH NOW?
I have been busy with preparation for Cannes, as well as the theatrical release of Apprentice in France and Singapore. I’ve also just finished work for an art exhibition at Pearl Lam Galleries, which will run till 19 June 2016.
