Whether you’re planning a pre-Christmas treat with the grandchildren or looking forward to some New Year steam, the ‘Middy’ is the place to be.
Santa Specials run on Saturday and Sunday, December 14 and 15, and Saturday and Sunday, December 21 and 22, at the Mid Suffolk Light Railway. Steam trains run from Brockford Station to ‘North Pole Halt’, where children up to 10 will have an individual visit to Santa in his Christmas Guard’s Van.
Each child receives a present and there will be children’s entertainment and storytelling.
The Santa Special’s genuine Great Eastern Railway Victorian four-wheeled coaches are a historical experience for all passengers.
Volunteer John Reeve explains that tickets must be pre-booked.
“We are always full every year, so it’s amazingly successful,” he says.
