Chopard is a role model in the art and business of luxury with a conscience. The brand’s co-president Caroline Scheufele shares on its journey so far in this exclusive with Brian Cheong
Starting from july last year, the production of every single piece of luxury item from Chopard would be made from gold sourced ethically from small-scale mines under the Swiss Better Gold Association (SBGA), Fairmined and Fairtrade schemes, or Responsible Jewellery Council-certified refineries. In fact, Chopard is the largest buyer of Fairmined gold.
This Journey to Sustainable Luxury, as the commitment is called, is led by Caroline Scheufele, creative director and co-president of Chopard who once commented: “True luxury comes only when you know the handprint of your supply chain, and I’m very proud of our gold sourcing programme.”
