Ready For A New Role

TV’s popular actor Malini Kapoor shares her bittersweet pregnancy journey, and tells us how baby Kiyan’s arrival has made her bond with her husband even stronger

Best known for her roles in Balika Vadhu and Rab Se Sona Ishq, 37-year-old actress Malini Kapoor, married to fellow actor Ajay Sharma, welcomed her baby boy Kiyan in December 2017. Originally from Kolkata, Malini moved to Mumbai in 2000 to make her dreams of becoming an actor a reality. Today, she thanks God for being kind to her and has nothing but gratitude in her heart. Malini enjoys travelling and photography, having a small set up at home to indulge in. An actor, a wife, a daughter, a sister and now a mother, Malini is grateful for everything this city and her profession has brought in her life.

Mine is a happy story. My husband and I met on the sets of Love U Zindagi, a show on Star Plus, and the strangest thing was that although we hardly shot any scenes together, we were destined to spend our lifetime together. We dated for a year before we got married in 2014, under major family pressure and with immense confusion in our hearts. Our families warned us with the ultimatum “now or never”, so we had to give in and get married anyway. It takes a while for things to settle down ... ours took a little longer. Ajay hails from Jaipur and that’s where we lived for a couple of months post marriage. I have mixed feelings and memories of those days.
